NO NO NO NO! Fashion police citizen's arrest. This is NOT and Never was or would be "punk". Offensive. "Stylish Punk" is an oxymoron and an insult. Unless you're in California with the clueless, colorful, and trendy "punks". I gag and cringe at the mere thought of them. So lamΓ©. Honestly, what I saw of and from the LA punk scene really did taint my view of California. Since the late 70's. I'm sure there was a healthy underground scene. What I saw was that they totally dulled the sharp edges of punk. They pretty much dull, wankify, woosify, any music genre in California. Beach boys and Grateful Dead 60's, Journey 70's, Van Halen 80's, you get it. The Land of Lame. I'm sure there are many, but off the top of my head only one California music exception is early Jefferson Airplane. Which ultimately blew chunks when they "Built this city on rock and roll". I'll give California credit for The Doors, even though was that isn't my scene. They're okay. I never listen to them voluntarily. Hammond organ was a big non-starter for my kid brain. Even leather pants couldn't undo that organ thing. And even worse, extended organ improve. Had I been there in real time, maybe. Organ bands can be so pretentious though.

Surprised Barbara Bush Now Says She's Pro-Choice? Don't Be. She Always Was. - Rewire.News

Not a great read but fascinating! Prescott Bush - father of G.H.W.Bush, grandad of G.W.Bush was treasurer of Planned Parenthood and strong supporter. "The Bush family has a long history of support for Planned Parenthood. Prescott Bush, father of George H. W. Bush (Bush 1) and grandfather of Bush 2 was the treasurer of Planned Parenthood when it launched its first national fundraising campaign in 1947. Birth control being controversial in the period pre- Griswold v. Connecticut (and yes, history obviously repeats itself), Prescott Bush was attacked for his pro-choice position and knocked out of the running for a Senate seat in Connecticut. Writing at SFGate.com in 2005, Vicki Haddock recounts the history: Prescott Bush won a Senate seat two years later, and his son George and daughter-in-law Barbara continued to support Planned Parenthood even after George’s election to Congress from Texas. “In fact,” writes Haddock, “he was such an advocate for family planning that some House colleagues gave him the nickname “Rubbers.””

The former First Lady was notably eager to learn about people she didn’t understand—and recognize she might have been wrong about them.

Barbara Bush: I'm sick of Donald Trump

Class Distinction. Below video is a fine example to explain my admiration and affection for #BarbaraBush. She won't disparage Trump directly even when prodded, "I don't think about him". But she has plenty to say to indicate her disdain for him. I'm a liberal, with a small L. But I can enjoy and learn something from everyone. "I don't know how any woman could vote for him [Trump]..." "I'm a woman, we all know what he meant about Meagan Kelly...". ~Barbara Bush 2016 Campaign Lesson in American Class Distinction: Old vs New Money Old Money: The Bushes, especially seniors, are the epitome of 'old money', understated, confident, American so they're often direct but not personally disparaging. Elusive: silent signals like G.H.W. Bush discretely flashing his Yale socks - too much to explain, they won't air or dish dirt publicly. George W. is never publically speaks down on anyone, his brother Jeb struggled when faced with Trump for that reason. Among the best of old money there's humility with a self worth based on perceptions of service and those accomplishments. New Money: The Kennedys were great pretenders, 'new money' with 'old money' values because of and despite of bootlegger and political fixer Joe Kennedy Sr. At their best, the Kennedy kids had a sense of humility, service, and compassion. The Trumps are the worse of 'new money': brash, crass, overt self interest, arrogant, self worth solely based on monetary activities, vulgar displays of wealth like Baroque-styled decor, even a touch is bad news. Is it even possible to have a 'touch' of Baroque style? I say*: If you're a rich, once you start large scale with gold - gild and gold plate your lifestyle with new stuff not antiques - you're way off, inaccessible to ordinary people. If you have gold toilet seats it's most apropos because you're a huge ass. Gold guns in office? You have fascist panache. *Please note that this is cultural! In America we don't have a history of gilded palaces and statues like Europe, Asia, etc. or a tradition of swimming in, wearing and having, lots of gold like India.

Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy

Be forever in peace great lady! Barbara Bush has passed away in true form on her on terms. She'd been very ill this year and opted only for comfort care - no more trips to the hospital. I wonder how long her husband of 72 years will last, President George H.W. Bush. He'll greive deeply. I've admired her intelligence, class, straight forward candor and demeanour without crass or unkind words, always above the fray. A well-grounded, rock solid, woman. She will be missed by many.

Ooooo. What a minute. Only groceries I need are delivered, with recipes. Bingo! When I start cooking this is the way to go. It's a goody instead of the recipe, stocked, prepped, and shipped produce/meat all in the box. Costs less! Likely far less costly. Still going for "chef" prepared meals in the mean time.

The million points of light. The great equalizer. The real land of opportunity, the Public Library. A source of pride. Free: WiFi - Internet access, computers, books, movies, music, info for community events and services, and more cool things like librarians! Mom and I used to go to Morris Library after school to learn French, listening to tapes. That was University School era, I was 7. I spent eons in Morris Library at SIU as a kid. Mom was doing the PhD thing and teaching, I was let loose in the library. At first I admit to mostly riding the elevator. But then what was beyond the elevator doors on each floor became interesting. Once I got taller and learned the card catalog and Dewey decimal it was on. I didn't go for precision, one book, I picked a book to find the section. Learned the Dewey of the stuff I was interested in, skip the card catalog I could find my stuff in any library. Hours of entertainment. Actually reading the entirety of things? Not so much. Too many different things to get into everywhere.

Sun Basket

I already needed to exercise long ago. Now it's an imperative. Since moving back to Illinois I've gained 10 lbs. so I'm not fitting my clothes at all. I have developed high cholesterol and I just started on high blood pressure medication at 160/110 but I've been in that range for years with an occasional 120/80. I'm just complaining. DO NOT give me info, suggestions, or tips. I know about these things. I know about nutrition, diet, exercise and weight loss. I did weigh 210. Now I don't. 160 is not tragic or meaningful, it only sucks because I can't wear awesome stuff. Good thing I had hit a stretch pants jeans sale! Pure chance. Once I'm settled into my own living again soon I may go for one of these meal things for a while. This one or Plated. I've done 2 or 3 different ones and I like them. Fresh ingredients and top quality. No grocery shopping, recipe matching with ingredients, time or food waste. For one person it's a meal and left overs.

Palestinian journalist dies after being shot by Israeli forces

F Israel (the nation, not the people). Snipers, so this wasn't random or collateral. "Murtaja, 30, was hit despite wearing a blue flak jacket marked with the word "press", discerning him as a journalist." Honestly, if you're able to defend this just don't bother to comment. I'd rather not know who you are. Which nation has among, if not, the highest number of UN violations?

The Ben Shapiro Show by The Daily Wire on Apple Podcasts

In "Things I Love" segment today on the Ben Shapiro Show for Easter Ben has extolled upon the magnitude of greatness that is Ben Hur, the film version with Charlton Heston of course. Sigh, I forgot to watch TV to see it. I lived a long life, from early childhood, waiting to watch it every year on TV...even though I've owned it for decades. An awesome gift from older siblings. 2 VHS tapes. A costly gift in its day. Growing up, the first big events of any new year to look forward to was watching The Ten Commandments for Passover and Ben Hur for Easter on TV. Each film would take two nights to watch because they're both epics and 4 hours long with commercials. The best weekends ever! Then came Spring time and my birthday. Not always in that order. Refreshing listening. Reasoned and interesting... LOVE Ben Shapiro podcasts!! It's on the top of my must listen to list. There aren't many slots. Maybe two. Fareed Zakaria GPS on CNN and Ben Shapiro Show. Ben Shapiro has incredible reasoning, logic, and argumentative skills. He's well-sourced to back up what he says via studies, books, etc and he'll tell you when it's just his opinion, belief, religious, or other bias. And I agree with him almost in totality thus far.
