A history of sanctuary cities: How Black Americans protected fugitive slaves

Quick and interesting read. Protest and defiance to protect the most vulnerable. Centered around the 1850 law that expanded the rights of slave owners, but not slavery itself, into non-slavery states. Forcing the return of any escaped slave no matter if the state laws prohibit slavery.
